Changes in regular paid time
If your regular paid time increases or decreases, you may want to make changes in your benefits.
Change in appointment
If your Limited appointment converts to a Career appointment, you become eligible for UCRP membership and Full Benefits. At the time you become eligible for conversion to a Career appointment, you will have a 31-day PIE (link to glossary) during which you may enroll yourself and your eligible family members in UC-sponsored benefits plans.
If you work 1,000 hours in 12 months
If you are working in a Limited Appointment and accumulate 1,000 hours on paid status in any period of 12 consecutive months, you become eligible for UCRP membership and Full Benefits. Your department will notify you when you become eligible.
Transferring from one UC location to another
One of the advantages of working for UC is the ability to advance your career anywhere within the system. And, if you take a job at another UC campus, medical center, or the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, your benefits move with you. However, there are actions that you need to take to ensure a smooth transition.
