Flexible Spending Accounts: New Administrator, New Names
Beginning January 1, 2009, CONEXIS will replace SHPS as the administrator of UC's Flexible Spending Accounts (DepCare and Health FSAs). UC believes that partnering with CONEXIS, a national leader in benefits "administration", will result in improved services to you. Along with this change, the HCRA and DepCare accounts will now be called the Health Flexible Spending Account (Health FSA) and the Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DepCare FSA).

To make sure all children have something good to read, Rebecca Constantino launched the nonprofit Access Books in 2004, distributing books to inner-city schools in Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties that have pitifully few volumes on their library shelves.

Regents Approve Retiree Re-employment Policy

Open Enrollment a Good Time to Consider Disability Waiting Period
UC's Supplemental Disability Plan premiums are increasing 15% beginning with the premium withheld from enrolled employees' February 1, 2009 paychecks. Although the plan is not open for enrollment at this time, you can increase your waiting period, and reduce your premium, at any time.

Regents Approve UCRP Funding Proposal
At their September meeting, the UC Regents approved a funding policy to ensure that the UC Retirement Plan remains able to pay retirement benefits to employees in the future, and that UC's benefits remain competitive in the marketplace. The proposal establishes the date of July 1, 2009, subject to collective bargaining where applicable, for the resumption of employer and employee contributions to the UCRP.
